New York Fashion Week SP09 in Review
New York Fashion Week SP09 in Review.
Sorry ladies this is a little late. I had a summary of Fashion Week all done, and then it disappeared with everything else on my computer when it unexpectantly shut down. It’s the worst when technology doesn’t work. Anyway…
Amidst all the Wall Street debacle and thoughts of the world imploding, at least the fashion set in New York is breathing a huge sigh of relief now that Fashion Week has now moved across the pond to London. Though I’ve been at the shows for a few seasons now, I have to say that SS09 was the most hectic and the most enjoyable one for me thus far. The pic I threw up of standing literally 2 feet away from Carolina Herrera backstage only represents the tip of the excitement of seeing fashion, beauty, and glamour up close and personal.
This year, instead of covering every show, we took a different approach to summarize our favorite looks and delivering the trends to you daily. This actually makes my recap much easier because you can just click here!
As far as personal highlights go, the shows are great but after a day of hard work running between the office and the tents, there’s nothing like an open bar and a glam crowd to get you excited for the next day. Some of the better parties I attended were the Boucheron 150 Anniversary Bash, the MAC Fashion Week Dinner, and the Vogue/Rosa Cha afterparty (which I risked my life in the hurricane to go to). It was just sad that by Wednesday, I was too overwhelmed and canceled the remainder of my parties. I imagine there were some fun ones closing out the week.
And of course, the opportunites to interview industry leaders from Bobbi Brown to Ted Gibson to James Aguiar. What a week! I’m still working on paying off all my sleep debt, but it was worth it. ‘Til February!
