Gwyneth Paltrow’s Hair Short Bob.

Gwyneth Paltrow is now welcoming change to her hair!  Earlier this year Gwyn struggled with cutting it for sentimental reasons.  It looks like the stylist is once again her friend.  I love it!  What do you think? Could this be your new holiday look?

Get Christina Applegate’s Samantha Who Hair Style

Get Christina Applegate’s Samantha Who Hair Style

Who would’ve thought that the girl who brought us Kelly Bundy would come back as a super-fab amnesiac and wow us with her style?

(Although I have to say, I loved her in Anchorman, too…”No. I don’t want to go to a party in your pants.”)

These days, the short hair is really working for Christina. Score her flirty, wavy ‘do with these tips from Paul Mitchell and hairstylist Vincent Sullivan:

  • Start with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner, like Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Daily Shampoo and Extra-Body Daily Rinse
  • Apply a heat protecting spray (try Paul Mitchell Heat Seal) and blow dry hair straight using a large round brush
  • Take 1″ sections of hair, holding the ends, and wrap hair clockwise around the barrel of a 1.5″ curling iron. Hold for 10 seconds.
  • Once hair is curled, run fingers through to soften the look.
  • Complete the style with a finishing spray like Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Firm Finishing Spray to keep curls intact.

Hair Trends from Fashion Week

Hair Trends from Fashion Week .

Glossy bone-straight locks were a hit (once again) on the runway this year. We saw relaxed hiar make a comeback with the sleekest do possible. Baby Phat gave the models had shine so amazing that I was blinded through my computer screen. BCBG keep it natural with flat roots and a slight wave at the ends. Cavalli had the models beaming with a deep part and extra long hair that simply glowed.

Curious about how to get your tresses to look straighter than a sushimi knife on a time crunch? What about keeping the hair straight all day long? Here is a miracle product to keep your hair hanging straight all day.

Sabino Moisture Block is a waterproof, humidity-proof serum that allows hair to keep its style all day until you shampoo it out. Wow! What product doesn’t promise such claims, right? I actually tried this one and I really love it. It does exactly what is on the label.

Sabino seals moisture into the hair by using a revolutionary combination of silicones. It looks out excess moisture that can cause hair to become frizzy, keeping your hair from reverting back to its natural state. But, unlike other products, there’s no greasy film or syrupy gloss glopping from your strands. It also protects hair in any climate. Heck! Swim in it, take a steam bath, it is not coming off until you shampoo this product out.

Looking for incredible shine? Using Sabino Moisture Block will keep the cuticle of each strands smooth so they glide with each other instead of against. The hair moves freely without any resistance. Bellissimo! Use it right after you wash and deep condition hair to seal in your products and watch your hair reap the benefits.

Turn your flat iron up as high as you want–you are protected with Sabino Moisture Block. At this moment, I’m currently rocking a beautiful sew-in weave with a couple strands of my bangs and crown covering the tracks. I used Sabino last night to blow-dry and flat iron this portion of my hair. No lie: The brush just glazed through my hair. No sticking or tangling! Most importantly, no breakage! I use my flat iron on this part of my hair almost everyday, and I don’t see any breakage. It also makes it so much easier for me to straighten my hair because I don’t have to go over the same section 3 or 4 times.

Sabino Moisture Block retail for $20 and you can purchase it here. Best product on the market, period.

Get the Look: Anne Hathaway at Rachel Getting Married Premiere
Our buddy Celebrity Stylemaker and hair master Adir Abergel, had the opportunity to work with the beautiful Anne Hathaway for the premiere of her upcoming flick “Rachel Getting Married” at the  Venice Film Festival last week. Adir sent us all the details on how he created Anne’s sleek hair knot:

“Anne wore a beautiful Versace gown that had a lot of movement, detailing and fullness on the bottom half of the dress. I wanted to do something with her hair that was very clean, so not to compete with the dress, but still create some movement in the back chignon.

I started out by blow-drying her hair back with a round brush, applying Frederic Fekkai Coiff Shape and Set Mist on roots. Once all of her hair had dried, I pulled the hair back into a ponytail (a little lower than the crown) using Frederic Fekkai Coiff Nonchalant Piecing and Forming Wax to get a very clean and sleek texture to the hair.

After the pony was secure, I twisted the ponytail and pinned it in place making sure it had a feeling of  movement.

Pulling back the hair into a ponytail first, will help you make a clean updo. Just make sure to finish the look with a light hairspray. I use Frederic Fekkai Sheer Hold Hiarspray to keep it in place all night.”

Glamorous Hairstyles

Filed under: Haircare, Hairstyles — Tags: — admin @ 12:31 pm

Glamorous Hairstyles. Fancy hairstyles and updos have never really been my thing - even when I have a special function to go to. I’d rather just put my hair in a ponytail or just wear it straight and that’s it. However, I know that there are many of you who love to get your hair done for evening events. Who says we can’t get those glamorous hairstyles like the celebrities on the red carpet?

Well, I wanted to share with you these photos from Uptown, the second district in AG Hair Cosmetics’ 2008 editorial collection Architecture...
AG Hair Holiday Hair

AG Hairstyles
My favorite look is called the “Fountain” (top middle). The “Fountain” has that old-Hollywood feel with mid-length, elegant curls that frame the face.

If you use a hair straightener like I do (see my review of the flat iron I use), then I recommend trying AG’s “Set It Straight” straightener. It’s used mainly for blow drying your hair straight, but I like to put it on before I use my flat iron. I also put on a little after straightening it as well.

Perhaps this holiday season I’ll try something new instead of straightening it and putting it up in a boring ponytail! Looking at the photos above has inspired me to be more adventurous ;)

What type of fancy hairstyles do you like?

Hair Trend: Wrinkles and Crinkles

Filed under: Beauty, Haircare, Hairstyles — Tags: — admin @ 7:18 pm

Hair Trend: Wrinkles and Crinkles. Or should I say wrinkle in a time machine? This 1980s hairstyle often pops up here and there, reminding us that crinkly, crimpy hair will probably never die.

Featured in several shows from Paris to London to New York, the style ranged from severe Christian Dior (upper left) to a more straight down, everyday style à la Christian Lacroix, Ruffian, and Karen Walker. For good measure, Jenny Packham added her own simple updo version, too (lower right). Maybe it’s time I dig out the ol’ pink crimper myself — in moderation, of course.

Hair Trends Spring 2009

Filed under: Haircare, Hairstyles — Tags: — admin @ 6:50 pm

Hair Trends Spring 2009.

Inspiration:

Inspired by a spring day in Paris, Catherine Malandrino’s collection reflects the ’40s and ’50s soft silhouettes that were feminine with an underlying edge.

The Look
:

Elaborating on the 40s/50s era, the hairstyles evoke “rockabilly” flair by creating volume on the top of the head in a chignon and similar variations of this updo.

The Hair Color Story:

The hair was augmented with customized Wella colored extensions in order to create beautiful chignons that match and complement the natural hair color. Eva Scrivo and her team of Wella Professionals colorists colored over 20 extensions in preparation, along with 30 accentuating pieces to match. In order to create depth, dimension and texture, the Wella Professionals team colored the extensions to show movement and the blending of light and dark tones.

Step-by-Step:

1) Make a tight ponytail high on the top of the head

2) Twist the ponytail tightly into a coil

3) Wrap coiled ponytail first towards the forehead and then to the back, securing with pins into a bun, sitting high on the head

4) Take a Wella highlighted extension, coil, and secure on top of the twisted and already secured ponytail to add height and dimension to the bun

naturally curly waves

Filed under: Haircare, Hairstyles — Tags: — admin @ 5:13 pm

naturally curly waves. While searching through one of my favorite sites I stumbled upon this look. Looks like we are seeing double, yea? Guess again, its actually Carmen Electra and Jessica Simpson both sporting the same dirty blonde-ish “naturally curly waves”

If you like what you see and want to create this look it’s simple. All you need are the following…

  • 3/4 or 1 inch curling iron
  • Some Frizz control product such as Joice Serum or Chi Silk infusion.

Take the barrel hold it so that the tip is downward. Wrap a small 1 inch section of hair around the barrel, wait 10-20 seconds or till your hair is curled( do not use the clamp). Then wait till it is cooled off. Once it is cool, stretch your hair by tugging at the ringlets(at the ends) till they are loose and “naturally curly.” Lightly mist with hairspray to finish off the look.

Audrina Patridge makes this casual hairstyle smoking hot!

This is a simple look. It is very untamed and sexy at the same time. To recreate this look check out this tutorial. Don’t forget to make clockwise and counterclockwise twists. For the front you can use a larger curling iron or flat iron to create flipped out front pieces.

  • Apply heat protecting spray
  • Flat Iron or 1 1/4-2 inch curling iron
  • Curling hair and run fingers through, then spray with finishing hairspray

Hair Trends the Low Braid

Filed under: Beauty, Haircare, Hairstyles — Tags: — admin @ 7:31 pm

Hair Trends the Low Braid. Kate Hudson, low braid, hair, braid, hair braid, Kate Hudson braid, Kate Hudson low braidAs the heat of summer dies down and cooler temperatures will (hopefully) start coming our way, it’s time to think about some sophisticated, chic hairstyles to take us from one season to the next effortlessly. I’m totally into the look Kate Hudson is rocking at left. Her loose low braid, accented with side-swept bangs, is absolutely gorgeous. (It doesn’t hurt that her chandelier earrings and sparkly gown are to DIE.)

Now, I’ve been fascinated with braided hairstyles for quite some time. (Click here to check out my love of the side braid.) But this is such a unique take on the style that I simply have to focus on it this week! I love that Kate’s hair brings together two different hairstyles in such a unique way. The top of her hair is blown out into sleek, lustrous smoothness, and flows so elegantly into a simple braid that travels down her back. And rather than tying it off with a boldly hued clip or ponytail holder, there’s a simple holder that matches her hair. The end result? Absolute flawless perfection.

Curious about how to rock the look on your own? It’s super-easy to recreate this look! Read on to find out how you can style your hair into the low braid!

Aveda, Aveda Shampure, Aveda Shampure Shampoo, Shampure, Shampure Shampoo, shampoo, Aveda shampooFirst off, your tresses should be sleeker than sleek. Start with a shine-enhancing shampoo — I absolutely love Aveda Shampure Shampoo ($9.50 at aveda.com), which brings out shine like no other shampoo I’ve ever tried.

Next, you’ll want to get the shiniest blowout possible. And what better hairdryer to use than the T3 Bespoke Evolution T3, T3 Micro, T3 Bespoke Evolution, T3 Evolution, T3 Evolution Hairdryer, Evolution, Evolution Hairdryer, hairdryer, hair dryer, blowdryer, blowdryer, T3 blowdryer($300 at t3micro.com)? Whether you dry with a round brush or just your fingers, this hairdryer will get the job done. Of course, blowdrying with a round brush will get your locks to glisten and gleam — but if you’re short on time, this dryer will still accomplish that in only a few minutes!

Now for the fun part — the braid! You’ll want to gather your hair very loosely and split it into three wide sections. Starting at the nape of your neck, cross one section over the other — not too tightly, or the effect will be lost. The braid should be clean and finished — no pieces sticking out — but at the same time, don’t make it too polished or wound up!

Sephora, Sephora Snag-Free Hair Elastics, Sephora ponytail holder, Sephora hair elastics, hair, hair elastic, hair elastics, elastic, elastics, ponytail holder, ponytail holders, braid, low braidStop braiding about an inch from the bottom of your locks. Secure the braid with an elastic that matches your hair. The Sephora Snag-Free Hair Elastics ($3.50 each for a pack of 8 elastics at sephora.com) come in three different shades — Black, Brown and Clear — that will perfectly match most hair colors.

Ojon Shine and Protect Glossing Spray, Ojon, Shine and Protect Glossing Spray, glossing mist, glossing spray, hairFinish with a shine spray that will bring out even more gleam. One like Ojon Shine & Protect Glossing Mist ($28 at sephora.com), which is formulated with wildcrafted Ojon oil and a UV inhibitor to really keep those strands glossy. And voila! An easy to create low braid that is just so simple and chic!
