Fall Shopping List: Cocktail Dress

Fall Shopping List: Cocktail Dress.

‘Tis the season of the dress, in particular, the cocktail frock. Dress to impress at your next function in this adorable Luella Lois tiered cocktail dress and further up the girlie factor (after all, more is more) with satin sandals and a glitzy bag (midnight blue + black accessories in different textures = French girl panache). And when temperatures drop, nothing creates a more drop-dead glam impression than a plush fur topper.

Here’s where to get the look:

I Have Been Eyeing These Things Recently…Things You Can Wear For Spring and Fall

I Have Been Eyeing These Things Recently…Things You Can Wear For Spring and Fall. The best jean ever! The trouser-cut jean…looks good on every-body!

I think that ruffle blouses have a flair to them for any season…I was checking out a ruffle tank at Buffalo the other day and really wanted to get it…it’s all about dramatic ruffling details on a blouse…you can’t just have one ruffle.

I remember when I wore pointy toe flats in college about 6 years ago and people thought I looked like a witch:) I still wore them of course…I rocked them not even caring…well, now, I still love pointy toe flats and I think they looks so chic with pencil trousers and a cute little cardigan for the fall, or do the same for now and just wear a pair of shorts and a tank. These Missoni flats are only $315 on sale…ok, not ONLY…but, they are on sale:) I love wearing funky style flats for fun!

We can dream of the Botkier bag for real designer pieces that will last for almost ever…or we can get the Target bag…which I haven’t seemed to be able to find the one I really want…so, for right now I am going to keep on dreaming of the real thing. I am LOVING tassells and fringe for fall…so this bag is perfect for fall.

White Flip Flops

White Flip Flops. For the longest time, my summer staple have been simple white flip flops. Not the rubber beach kind, but the more sophisticated and dressy type, with actual soles, made of non-rubber material. They are just awesome, because they are summery, comfortable and matches with absolutely everything- perfect for a casual summer day. Ever since my pair of Nine West white flip flops with chunky heels (just the right height!) expired a few years back however, I haven’t been able to find a pair to properly replace them.
That is until I laid eyes on my friend’s pair of Tory Burch white flip flops (over at their website, they call it thongs…. I have no idea what the difference is). They are just EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for. While the design is simple and casual, the little gold emblem and the wooden sole gives it just the right amount of sophistication that makes it elegant and classy. I LOVE it. Unfortunately, I’ve walked through the shop and all the usual department stores, and couldn’t find them. They’re also sold out online of my size! But while I was browsing, I noticed that they had this design in many different sharp colors, like this yellow one, which I think works great to match/clash with this season’s bold color theme.
Another white flip flop I’ve looked at are these ones from Banana Republic. The patent leather strip and sole transforms this simple, classic design from the beach to the streets. This design also comes in a rainbow of sharp colors and are relatively cheaper than the Tory Burch’s (more available too!). The only question now is which color? Other simple flip flops I’that also fits the bill are these ones from Nordstrom. They’re basically the same as the ones from Banana Republic, except the straps are a bit wider and have a bit more elevation in the heels. These little details actually help to make these more sophisticated. But the gold shiny stuff on the soles kind of put me off even though I know it won’t show when I’m wearing it…. should definitely go check them out!

“Victoria Beckham Is Sweet” Says Naomi Campbell

“Victoria Beckham Is Sweet” Says Naomi Campbell. Naomi Campbell was the guest editor of the Daily Mirror’s showbiz section yesterday and used the opportunity to speak her mind about about many things including her BFF Victoria Beckham.

The supermodel said: “When I was going through my hard time recently she was immediately on the phone asking me how I was doing and saying, ‘I hope you’re well’. She was sweet. We share girl stuff and she is so funny - people just don’t know her or get her.”

Naomi is not the best role model, but it is so sweet that Victoria took time to check in on her.

Are You a MAC Original?

Are You a MAC Original?

Orig_pressM·A·C Cosmetics announced the “Are You A M·A·C Original?” contest to launch their new limited edition collection The Originals.  The contest is a celebration of one’s individuality and originality—qualities intrinsic to the M·A·C brand.  Launching nationally through the M·A·C website, the contest will also run regionally in 6 key cities across the United States: New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, San Francisco and Houston.

The Originals pays tribute to popular product shades both discontinued or existing that consumers covet and can’t live without.  The Originals, a collaboration of the new and the old, introduces new textures and modified formulations of must-have Lipsticks, Lipglass, Eye Shadows and Pigments. We personally love the creative that goes with the campaign.

MAC has always celebrated the unusual and even though too much  deliberate originality can in fact have the opposite effect we think MAC toes the line

perfectly.

Beachy Summer Hair

Filed under: Haircare, Hairstyles — Tags: — admin @ 3:51 pm

Beachy Summer Hair. For a long time, I’ve craved the perfect, wavy beach hair. Much like the model to the left, with her lovely texturized hair that doesn’t appear crunchy, I too desired that result.  I’d heard about other sea salt type texturizers, but I’d never really believed they could be effective for my fine, limp hair. Of course I was also limited by my willingness to purchase products I was unsure about.

AloSun has created two inexpensive products designed to help you achieve that perfect Victoria’s Secret bikini model hair.  The AloSun Hydrating Hair Mask ($5.00) has many features I was excited about.  First of all, I loved the $5.00 price tag, and the fact that the 1.75 oz size makes it perfect for keeping your hair in tact at home or on vacation.  I also loved the ingredients (aloe, olive fruit oil, sweet almond oil) and the way the scent transported me from my shower in Brooklyn to an island far far away.

I was equally as excited to try the AloSun Sea Salt Hair Spray ($5.00), however it’s not the right formulation for my fine & oily prone hair. The scent instantly reminds you of the ocean, but the formula was too heavy and weighed my hair down.  If your hair texture is a little more coarse, I’d recommend checking this product out, for it’s certainly not for the faint of heart.

This experience taught me to be brave and try other hair texturizing products.  While shopping at CVS, on a whim I picked up SunSilk’s Waves of Envy Sea Mist texturizing spray. As with any product, if you don’t use it correctly, you won’t see desired results.  I learned from reading the AloSun label it’s best to twist your hair into rope-like sections to achieve the best beach hair.  After your hair has had the opportunity to set, gently unwind the rope sections and voila! Hooray for beach hair.  The difference between the SunSilk and AloSun texturizers is definitely the formula.  The SunSilk formula uses less oil and is perfect for my hair type - dare I even say drying.  I do notice a significant change in the thickness.

All in all, I’ve used the SunSilk product nearly every day since I’ve purchased it.  I appreciate the added thickness and how much easier my hair is to style.  Point proven - you don’t have to be a Victoria’s Secret model to have great beachy hair!

Victoria Beckham In Allure August 2008. Victoria Beckham may be called many things, but stupid she isn’t.  Obviously the gal has media savvy and a pretty decent head on her shoulders (or at least a good stylist).  Her softness will stun and amaze as you browse the photos of her in Allure magazine’s August 2008 issue.

Here’s Just  A preview
